A Solo Practitioner We All Can Admire....

While I am fortunate to enjoy an abundance of correspondence with many a talented solo or solo-in-training, once in a great while someone just gets to me.  You may remember solo Kimberlie Ryan of the Larry Miller sexual harassment case in Colorado.  Attorney Ryan won more than $3 million for two female plaintiffs after a seven year legal battle against one of Colorado's giants.

I contacted her and asked if she would guest post on my blog which she promised to do.  Then in a moment, Attorney Ryan's life changed.  With a great professional and moral victory just won, her life was filled with devastating tragedy as her twenty-nine year old younger brother, Aaron, suddenly died of a massive heart attack not seven days after she reigned triumphant.  Just this week, Attorney Ryan e-mailed me to follow through on her promise and forwarded the following power point presentation for those in the blogosphere.  Meet Kimberlie Ryan, a truly inspirational and beautiful soul...and solo practitioner:

Hi Susan -
I haven't forgotten about you or your kind support.  It took me a little longer than I anticipated to sort through my thoughts.  I'm attaching my story, in a quick Power Point form,

with selected photos and my thoughts.  I hope you enjoy it.

Perhaps one day, I'll be ready to write again about taking down the big, bad corporations.  I will definitely have something by the end of the summer, as I'm presenting to the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association's annual conference in Steamboat in August on Maximizing Jury Verdicts and Settlements in Employment Law Cases

As you can see from my attachment, I've been in somewhat more of a creative space as of late . . .

I hope you are well, and I'm sending you positive vibes.

What do we live for if not to make life less difficult for each other?  George Elliot (1819-1880)

May you be free from danger. May you be peaceful and at ease. May you be filled with loving-kindness. May you be happy.

If you are inclined to help Kimberlie's foundation created to honor her brother, Aaron, which provides Spanish language childrens books to impoverished students in Guatemala, I know your contributions would be greatly valued.  I know my son has to pile at least 20 books in his bed each night....I can't imagine him having not one.

This is the very first Blawg Review of the summer of 2007. In writing it for you, I collaborated with Julie Fleming-Brown of the always-informative Life at the Bar. Julie begins . . . You know, I love summer. That glorious season of sitting on the beac... [Read More]
